Air/Oil Separators
Air/Oil Separators for rotary screw and vane type air compressors provide the ultimate filtration, with a micron rating of 0.3. All particles passing through the air and lube oil filters, which are larger than 0.3 microns, will be trapped by the separator. Separators are constructed of a depth loading media, and have good dirt holding capabilities.

The basic purpose of this product is to separate the oil from the air through coalescing action. The oil is physically trapped by the separator while allowing air to pass through. The oil is then drained down to the sump, removed by the pickup tube and return lines, and returned to the sump to be recompressed in a continuous cycle.

A separator’s life will vary considerably from thousands of hours down to very short cycles depending on usage and environmental conditions. (i.e. dust, humidity, smoke, pollution, etc...)

Separators are constructed to handle the specific CFM of the compressor and are rated thus. In many cases, the unit is designed to handle at least 10% over the normal CFM capacity of the compressor, while some are at marginal or below CFM capacity. It is best to check with your supplier if you are having to change the separator prematurely.

Coalescing Elements & Housings
Separators, while highly efficient, will not remove 100% of the oil from the air stream. Further coalescing filters downstream are normally required to remove these finite particles of oil and water which migrate through the separator.

General air coalescing when total removal of liquid aerosols and suspended fines is required in the pressure range from 60 to 150 psig.

Prefilter protection for deliquescent and refrigerated air dryers

Primary and secondary filters in 2-stage coalescing.
